Locally inspired, community focused – this is how The James NY, a very arty boutique establishment, likes to describe its approach to the hotel scene in Soho.

Location
  • Walking through the hotel feels like a stroll through a gallery showcasing works of up and coming artists. The rooms on the other hand are much simpler, gloriously filled with natural light thanks to the extensive windows almost replacing the walls. And even the economy class of St James – Queen Guest Rooms – are designed in a residential style using custom-made furniture, glass enclosed luxury bathrooms, and panoramic views.

Disappointingly the celebrity chef style breakfast isn’t part of your rates but rumoured to be worth the extra cost.

Adorned with more art, the rest of the hotel is well kitted out with an attractive rooftop pool terrace, spa, gym, landscape garden, and a hearty meal served in David Burke Kitchen.

    Good to Know

The rooftop terrace has unparalleled views of NYC skyline and a swimming pool to cool you down after a hot night on the town.

The Urban Garden, a 2nd-floor landscaped oasis, will please art and plant lovers.

  • Accommodation

88 rooms – Queen and King Guest Rooms, Deluxe King Guest Rooms, Corner Queen Guest Room, Corner King Studio, and Apartment Suite King.

Top rooms – Corner Queen Rooms for the over-sized windows and one bedroom apartments for the space and Manhattan views.

Prices start from around £230 a night, typically excluding breakfast.

    Eat & Drink

Inspired by the old continent, food at David Burke Kitchen is diverse with a certain American accent.

Framed by 360-degree views of the Manhattan skyline, the rooftop bar Jimmy is a must during your stay here.

    Activities

The hotel has a well equipped fitness centre that also runs a few classes, and a rooftop pool to keep you going.

    Relaxation

Located in the Urban Garden, Spa Cabana offers a range of massages while in the room you can indulge yourself in a beatifying treatment.

For other times there is the rooftop terrace and the tranquility of the arty Urban Gardens.

    Essentials

Parking – available onsite but at a hefty charge.

    Wifi – free throughout.

    Room service – 24/7.

Children – welcome with plenty of help provided.

    Pets – very welcome.
