The rather shy almost conventional facade is a clever camouflage to the opulent yet playful Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield, an unusual hotel that sends shivers down your spine the moment you cross its doorstep.

Location
  • Let’s take a walk through the bar and restaurant first. Lashings of gold, heavy chandeliers, ornamental furniture and mirrors everywhere, you’d almost think this is some kind of a very up market Edwardian house of ill repute. The seductive gothic ambience permeating through the hotel lightens up considerably in the sun drenched terrace filled with haphazardly placed tables and chairs around a pool with a hot tub.

As for the bedrooms, no suite resembles the next but they all share a common quality of designer furniture, quirky decor, and fantastic shiny copper bath tubs. Townhouse rooms are a little more tame compared to the wild spirited suites in the stable block.

    Good to Know

The dark ambience of Crazy Bear makes you forget there is still day out there, seducing you to a cocktail a lot earlier in the afternoon.

Joining the black membership delivers a benefit of substantially reduced rates here and at other establishments owned by the same group.

    We Loved

If you do decide to splash on the decadence of Crazy Bear, pick room 10 in the Stable Block for a complete experience.

    Eat & Drink

The bar is mesmerizing with heavy framed mirrors and lots of gold as is its cocktail list and tapas. Alternatively you can take your drink on the terrace, either under the shaded area or by the pool.
