  • Nowadays Amberley Castle opens its doors to all who wish to experience the splendour of four poster beds draped in period fabrics, ornamental carved furniture, dark wood wall panels and romantic strolls through the atmospheric grounds.

    Despite its size the castle offers only 19 bedrooms, all individual in design and reflective of the fortress history. However, modern comforts haven’t been forgotten and you can look forward to a relaxing whirlpool bath with few drops of luxury brand lotions.

    Check for cancellation terms – 50% of your advanced payment is non-refundable and the other 50% is lost if you cancel within 3 weeks of your arrival date.

  • Accommodation

    19 rooms – Classic (Rye, Bramber and Knepp), Superior (Hastings, Bodiam, Pevensey, Winchelsea, Camber and Crowhurst ), and Deluxe (Chichester, Arundel, Amberley, Lewes, Herstmonceux Luffa, Wilfrid, Sherbourne, Reede and Seffrid).

    Top rooms – those in the main body of the castle would be our pick.

    Prices start from £260 not always including breakfast but you can expect fruit wine and bottled water greet you in your room.

    Eat & Drink

    A traditional British cuisine is served in the restaurant’s two rooms – Queen’s Room is the principle dining room, with 12th-century barrel-vaulted ceiling and open fire and The Great Room, built in 1165 with its high lancet windows, open fireplace, oak flooring, tapestry and suits of armour.

    No bar as such in Amberley Castle but drinks are served brought in one of three adjacent sitting rooms.

    Activities

    Wonder the 12 acres of beautiful formal gardens within the Castle walls, enjoy a game on the 18-hole putting course, try your hand at tennis court or pass time playing croquet. 

    Relaxation

    Take a leisurely stroll around the ramparts and make it to the tower just in time for the sunset.
